November 11, 2021 - Covid Test, Hike and Walking Tour

We all went to bed quite early last night and as a result, we rose with the sun this morning.  Fred is feeling much better which is a relief.  Today a nurse is coming to the house at 8:00 a.m. to perform COVID tests on us all.  We will have the results in 24 hours.  We have to leave our house tomorrow by 10 a.m. and be at the airport at 3.

Fred and Linda, Ken and Trudy and Cornelius and Lizette all traveled to the Cattle auction today.  The rest of us walked down to the beach at Camps Bay and did some exploring.  We then bought lunch at the grocery store and ate it on the beach under a tree.  The hike back, all uphill, made us very warm, so we went swimming in the pool and then waited for the cattle auction folks to return.  Cornelius and Lizette then went to visit his Mom and the rest of us went downtown Cape Town to do a walking historical tour.  We had a guide booked, but another group got to the guide first and picked a tour in the Malaysian district which we had already driven through, so we did a historical tour ourselves.  Not greatly successful, but we still had a good afternoon. A flower market was also a highlight. We also bought some things at an outdoor market.

It was John's turn to be sick today, so he and stayed home all morning and he and Wendy stayed back for the afternoon.  Upon everyone's return to the house, John was feeling better and he accompanied us for supper at the vineyard Groot Constantia which is one of the oldest vineyards in Cape Town.  It was a beautiful place and we had a very good meal, with good wine.  It has been in existence for 340 years.
