November 7, 2021 - Sunday
This morning we drove into Cape Town and quickly toured the 'Company Garden' where food was grown to service the ships from the East India Company. We then attended the Cape Town Anglican Church. Desmond Tutu was the Archbishop from 1986 to 1996. It was a wonderful service that included a baptism and the eucharist. The organ playing was majestic and it was good to be together in the house of the Lord. After church, we toured the Groote Kerk which is the oldest CRC in Cape Town. It was started in 1678 and the caretaker let us look around and gave us information about its history. It was so neat to see. We didn't attend it as the services are held in Afrikaans.
We then went to a hotel just across the square to have coffee and apple tart. It is owned by a young dutch immigrant who bought and renovated the building into a boutique hotel. The coffee and tart were delicious.
Our next stop was the Stellenbosch region. We went to the Ernie Els Estate for cheese platters and wine tasting. It was such a beautiful estate and the wines were very good. We also went to the Graf Estate and then back to Cape Town for dinner at the Twelve Apostles Hotel. A very posh establishment with excellent food. We ate Springbok and Lamb with a delicious dessert.
Another full day with good conversation afterwards at home.
It's all so beautiful Angela!! The weather looks wonderful too. My love to all of you!
